September 2007 marks the
beginning of a revolutionary change for the Construction Industry
and Health and Safety.
Newly formed, Aberdeen-based Total Survey Solutions unveiled their
state-of-the-art Ground Penetrating Radar – Initially used by
the Military, the system has now been adapted to locate buried services
including plastic pipe work which using existing technology is undetectable.
One of only seven in the UK the radar is the most advanced radar
system available for this type of work and allows all data to be
automatically transferred to AutoCAD, meaning a complete 3D reconstruction
of the subsoil working environment is available at the touch of
a button.
The radar will provide not only detection for large scale projects
but can also be reassembled for use in narrow urban passages, and
can be used to detect both shallow and deeply buried pipes and cables
made from all types of materials, including hard to detect - plastic.
Total Survey Solutions is wholly owned by three Director’s
who have amassed over 70yrs of experience within the Construction
Industry.
Charles Miller, one of the three Directors said, ‘We are
extremely excited to bring this product to the North-East. The construction
industry in Scotland is seeing one of its busiest ever periods.
We anticipate the system will be highly sought-after throughout
Scotland, prior to works commencing on building sites and excavations
being made in public and private roadways. It really will provide
the most in-depth and cost-effective survey available’.
